Summer Activities for Children

In Vail, you will find a family-oriented mountain with activities and programs for children of all ages to enjoy. Day camps as well as specialized kid activites are available.


Mini Golf and Climbing Wall

At the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead, you will find both mini golf and a climbing wall for kids. The climbing wall allows kids of all ages as well as their parents, to try the thrill of rock climbing, in a controlled and supervised environment. Learn basic climbing skills from qualified instructors. This outdoor wall is kid tested and mother approved!


Camp Vail

Camp Vail and Pre-Kamp Vail offer the most energetic day programs in Vail. Art, drama, nature discovery, caving, orienteering, swimming, golf, fishing, and climbing are activities that children from ages 3-12 will find at Camp.
Early enrollment is suggested.


Summer on Adventure Ridge on Vail Mountain

Take the Eagle Bahn Gondola up to Eagle's Nest and Adventure Ridge. You'll find a large outdoor deck for dining and breathtaking mountain views. Additionally, kids will have fun with activities such as the interactive and educational Dino Dig, orienteering, laser tag, mountain biking, hiking, disc golf, lawn sports, a rebound trampoline, and the Discovery Center.


Vail's Playgrounds

A multitude of parks and playgrounds will keep the kids entertained. Some larger playgrounds are located near Betty Ford Gardens, Pirate Park near Vista Bahn Lift in Vail Village, and Donavan Park in West Vail.


Hot Air Ballooning

Soar the skies and enjoy the pristine vistas. The temperature is actually warmer in the air than at ground level! Tours include transportation, champagne, certificate and ceremony. Ages 6 and up. Vail Nature Center

Fly Fishing and Stream Ecology Classes are offered by the Vail Nature Center. You will spend a morning learning about river ecology, the alpine environment and conservation of streams. Also learn how to fly-fish! The Vail Nature Center is open daily. Please call 476-2291 for more information.


Winter Activities for Children

Adventure Zones on Vail Mountain

Learning the basics of skiing and riding has just become more fun for kids! Children will get the opportunity to ski and ride on specially designed children’s terrain, full of exciting bumps, jumps, twists and tunnels in Chaos Canyon. Explore The enchanted forests and secret "hide-a-ways!


Ice Skating Options in Vail

There are both indoor and outdoor ice rinks in Vail. Dobson Arena is located in Lionshead and has public skating sessions and skate rentals. Outdoors, you can skate at Eagle's Nest at the top of the Gondola or at the Vail Golf Course's rink in East Vail.


Adventure Ridge on Vail Mountain

Experience twilight entertainment at 10,000 feet with Vail's day and night activity center atop Vail Mountain. You'll ride the Eagle Bahn Gondola to the top of Adventure Ridge and choose from five dining options, enjoy great views and a host of great activities for kids. The gondola ride is complimentary after 2:00 p.m. Activities include tubing, ski biking, thrill sledding, ice skating, indoor laser tag, snowmobile tours (with a new snowmobile track designed specifically for young children), and snowshoe tours.

Nite Owls

A chaperoned evening of fun at Vail's Adventure Ridge! Kids ages 7-14 can enjoy two Adventure Ridge activities (including laser tag, tubing, ice skating and more!) and dinner atop Vail Mountain.
