Summer Camps
The Vail Recreation District invites you to enroll your children into one of their exciting summer day camps! From hiking to river rafting to arts and crafts, children of all ages can gain a hands-on learning experience they will never forget. Pre Kamp Vail (30 months to 5 years)
June 14 - August 20

Preschool-aged children enjoy learning activities such as arts and crafts, games and daily outings.

Location: Golden Peak Children's Center
Drop Off: 8 to 9 a.m.                  Pick Up: 4 to 5 p.m.
 

Camp Vail (5 to 12)
June 14 - August 20
Vail's premier day camp invites children to experience all of the activities available in our unique mountain surroundings! Campers can choose from sports, art and science activities, and special outings such as martial arts and swimming.

Location: Red Sandstone Elementary School
Drop Off: 7:30 - 9 a.m.            Pick Up: 4 - 5:30 p.m

Extreme Camp Vail (8 to 13)
July 2 - August 6 (Fridays ONLY)
Adventurous activities such as rafting, a trip to Water World, and a trip to the Glenwood Caverns are available for your child to enjoy.

Camp Eco Fun (4 to 6 and 7 to 11)
June 14 - August 20
This hands-on learning experience focuses on the natural environment of the Vail Valley at the Vail Nature Center and offers crafts and activities which support the weekly ecological theme.

Location: Golden Peak Children's Center and Vail Nature Center
Humming Birds : Ages 4 to 6: Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays
Hawks : Ages 7 to 11: Tuesday and Thursday
 

 

Adventure Ridge : Take a breathtaking gondola ride to Vail Mountain's Adventure Ridge. Enjoy disc golf, rebound trampoline, a BMX course, Dinosaur Dig, guided or self-hiking, bike tours, volleyball, bocce ball, and horseshoes. And don't forget to relax on Talon's Deck and take in the breathtaking views of the Sawatch, New York, and Gore Ranges while enjoying a cool drink.

Dobson Ice Arena : Open year-round for ice skating activities even in the summer months! 970-479-2271

Imagination Station : Ages 2-12; Open 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Vail's learning and discovery center provides a wide array of fun science and art learning activities for children. Featuring a black-light room which captures shadows and a "sound of science" exhibit, there are plenty of activities to capture your child's imagination. A 3 hour drop-off program is available for children who are potty trained and older for $10/hr. Located above the Subway in the Lionshead Parking structure,  call 970-479-2292 for details.

Lionshead Friday Family Fun Fair : Every Friday in LionsHead bring the kids for FREE activities and fun from July 2 – August 13

Playgrounds : There are many unique parks located in Vail. Ford Park, Pirateship Park, Donovan Park, and Bighorn Park are to name a few - stop by each of them to let the children burn some energy while the adults can relax in a sitting area and enjoy the summertime flowers and views.

Raptor Rendezvous : Join handlers from the Raptor Education Foundation for an exciting educational experience. This fun-filled FREE evening takes place at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola on Saturday afternoons in July until mid-August.

Skate Park : Located above the Lionshead parking structure, show off your own moves or get a lesson from a professional instructor. Helmets required! 970-479-2271

Vail Library Storytime : Every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00 and 11:00 am, kids of all ages enjoy story time and arts & crafts.

Vail Nature Center : This seven acre facility located in the heart of Vail hosts informative bird, wildflower, and beaver pond hikes. Open 7 days a week, the nature center offers a variety of classes for children and adults. 970-479-2291
